Restoring Your Natural Sensuality?
By Frankie Boyer
Total Health- January 2004

One of the greatest gifts in life is to be able to live your passion. I am one of the fortunate people who wake up every day to do one of the best jobs in the world. I get to talk to the most interesting and fascinating people in the world, from holistic practitioners to leading thinkers. I will be contributing to totalhealth on a regular basis sharing with all of you important information that can make a difference in all of our lives.

I kick off this column this month with the work of Akther Ahsen, Ph.D., who is the leading theoretician in the field of mental imagery and a book, Images of Desire, an imagery book written by his colleague Jaqueline Lapa Sussman which describes a form of therapy that offers the powerful promise for healing various physical and emotional problems.

Dr. Ahsen has written over 30 scientific books and numerous articles on eidetic imagery. His colleague, Jaqueline Lapa Sussman, has taken his work and opened it up for the general public. I've been fortunate to meet and work with Jaqueline, who has written two very important books, Freedom From Failure and Images of Desire now out in paperback.

The Challenge

The stresses and difficulties we encounter in life affect our physical well-being. Science can now see the direct correlation and connection between sickness and emotions such as stress, unhealthy thought patterns and traumas from the past. That is why I was so impressed when I found this form of therapy, eidetic imaging. We can really change years and years of old tapes, old negative thinking and toxic build up with just a few short images taken from the eidetic imagery body of work. This work is like no other in its ability to bring forth ones wholeness and true genetic capacity. As a result it can help our lives in profound ways -- from eating disorders to allergies, learning disabilities, psychosomatic disorders, illness and sexuality problems.

We are the most sexually saturated and sexually dissatisfied people in history. Have you ever wondered why? Sex is everywhere around us. Jaqueline says we have been indoctrinated with false images, plastic images, of what is sexy, so that we lose contact with our natural sexuality and sensuality.

Sensuality is not a brand of perfume, what size or breasts are or the shape of our rear end. Physical attractiveness and sex aren't the same things. But our society has put so much emphasis on superficial outer beauty and sex has been so commercialized and impersonalized that most of us have been dulled emotionally.

The Solution

The sensuality we were born with is still inside us - we just need to access it. Sensuality is that inner warmth that attracts others to us. It's the warm sexual aura that surrounds people who are in touch with their own sensibilities. The astonishing thing is that we are all born sensual - babies are wonderfully sensual. But our history - that shaping and molding and sometimes hammering that we get from our parents, peers, schools and society around us - creates layers of mental fatigue and oppression that smothers our natural sensuality.

Jaqueline Sussman says we can reconnect with our natural sensuality using eidetic imaging. It not only reveals to us how we relate to others, but how others see us. Most importantly, imaging returns us to our natural sensuality - which is not only pleasurable, but leads to states of love and spiritual ecstasy that are gifts to us from the gods.

Eidetic images are the detailed visual, physical and emotional snapshots that form spontaneously in response to significant real-life experiences. They differ from memories, dreams, daydreams, guided visualizations or symbolic images in that they are concrete imprints in our minds of actual events. In her book, Images of Desire, Jaqueline shows how we can use the eidetic imaging process step by step to change and heal our lives. It's full of exciting ideas and concrete techniques.

Library Journal said of the book "Via Sussman's 40 exercises with eidetic imagery (vision locked in the subconscious), men and women of all ages can reverse the negative effects of those forces by replacing negative images with positive ones to tap their original sensuality. Throughout, Sussman cites mythological gods and goddesses to illustrate why people act the way they do."

As each eidetic "record" is retrieved and thoroughly examined through Ahsen's step-by-step approach, any unresolved areas are revealed and their underlying causes are identified. From this enhanced perspective, emotional difficulties may be viewed with greater insight and the solutions to longstanding problems become clear. As a person who gains access to inner strengths and resources through the eidetic method, troublesome issues are effectively resolved and the experience of health and well-being is restored.
